The Meeting Before the Meeting

Barry Zweibel, a leadership coach, offers insight to leaders on consensus building and collaboration. He says in the Leadership 501 Blog, "With respect to ‘consensus-building and collaboration’ – Thinking that the real work happens during meetings, rather than before, and to a much lesser degree, after, them. "

What does this mean? Focus on developing relationships (working) and building rapport with people outside of the meeting room. In my experience, I make it a goal to discuss agenda items with a few champions and key personnel before hand.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on building consensus.

In the meantime, read the Coaches Interviews for additional insights.
