Tom Peters: Definition of Leadership

At the turn of millenium, Peters was asked to lecture on leadership in the new century. It's a lengthy clip, so skip to the 40 sec mark to hear Peter's central theme.

My thoughts on the video. With the emergence of the Internet, Social Networking, Virtual Teams,and other technology trends, leadership basics are at times forgotten. Technology doesn't make you a leader, it complements your leadership.

Peters thoughts on leadership in the new century are not surprising. Summarizing, he says leadership is about developing and giving people the tools they need to grow. He goes on to say this is no different than leadership in the prior century.

So to leaders, leadership fads come and go, but effective leaders stick to sound principles - helping others to suceed.
