A Quick Way To Fail

"I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is to try to please everyone. This is a quote from Bill Cosby, and it sums up a big reason many leaders fail.

Before you discount this simple quote, think about failure -- maybe in your life or anothers life. How many times have people chased a certain dream because it was what their parents wanted? Or what the school counselor suggested?

In a fine article I just read, "Six Reasons Why Leaders Fail," the author offers additional perspectives on why leaders fail. Read the author's point#3 -

3. They become driven by fear of failure. When driven by the fear of failure, leaders are unable to take reasonable risks. They want to do only the tried and proven. Attempts at innovation that typically characterised their initial success, diminish and eventually disappear.
