What makes an Ideal Manager

The other day I read a fine post on The ChangingMinds Blog! discussing the ideal manager. Think for a moment...what is your ideal manager? Is it the type that pushes you pass your limits? the one who lets you slide on things? the jerk? When I think back to my years in the laboratory, I worked for my ideal manager.
